About the role

Weekday AI seeks a Scientific Computing / Research Engineering Expert in Earth Sciences for a contract role. You will develop realistic scientific computing tasks for AI benchmarking and evaluation. This is a remote opportunity with flexible working hours.

What you'll do

• Convert Earth-science research workflows into terminal-based tasks.
• Prepare and process environmental datasets.
• Build reproducible computational environments.
• Develop reference solutions using Python, R, Bash, or Julia.
• Create tasks for geospatial analysis, numerical simulation, and more.
• Define evaluation criteria for scientific outputs.
• Validate scientific assumptions and numerical consistency.
• Develop automated tests for task validation.

Requirements

• PhD in Earth Sciences, e.g., climate science or geophysics.
• Expertise in an Earth-science specialization.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Octave, or Julia.
• Experience with scientific data processing and numerical modeling.
• Comfort working in Linux and terminal-based environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
