Collections Specialist

About the role

FairMoney is a mobile banking institution that provides financial services to emerging markets. They are seeking a Collections Specialist to join their team in Abuja, Nigeria. As a Collections Specialist, you will play a crucial role in recovering outstanding payments and managing delinquent borrowers.

What you'll do

• Plan and execute strategies to recover outstanding payments.
• Follow up with customers on overdue payments and identify problematic accounts.
• Communicate with delinquent borrowers to establish payment plans.
• Listen to customers and ensure collection-driven conversations.
• Advise customers on payment options and document conversations.
• Negotiate payoff deadlines and create trust relationships with debtors.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in microfinance or fintech collections.
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
• Knowledge of collection processes and approaches.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and manage multiple projects.
• Familiarity with collections systems and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
